Crystal Tears
Drops of aquamarine
Slide down the pale velvet.
The crystalline drops
Gather in small pools,
Then run down
And fall to the stone.
They shine like mirrors,
So I can see my
Tearstained face.
Rain
Grey clouds coat the sky,
And pelt down droplets
Of ice.
Falling down, and liquefying
Itself to water.
Some feel depressed,
As if the weather
Seals their feelings.
But for some, it's a time to
Dance,
Sing,
Smile,
In the rain.
Plants rejoice,
But are confined
To merely drinking gratefully,
But they might be singing more heavenly
Of praises
Than we could ever imagine.
This one is really dumb. I made it only to help Lily and Beth clean up their room (and mine!!!!!!!!) faster. The "snack time" is when I gave them a pomegranate-flavored Tick-Tack. This one doesn't feel like one of my poems, It doesn't have the right rhythm.
Bees
Two little girls,
Cleaning up their room,
Put away this,
Put away that,
Buzzing around the room
Like two little bees,
Cute little bees.
Running around the room,
Cleaning the room,
Making it pretty.
Snack time!
Come get a treat,
A nectar-colored treat,
Yum!
Giving a bit more energy
To fly around the room,
To clean.
When I wrote this one down, I shaped the words into a spiral. I made the new lines where it seemed like they should go.
Spiral
A spiral is the easiest
Of mazes,
One way in,
One way out.
They can be mesmerizing,
If they are spinning,
And people get lost
In time.
So, there you are people! My poems.
Here is the part about my life:
- Mom said she would home-school us kids this summer, and she started us off pretty well, but after Sunday (weeks ago), she completely forgot. And I don't just study about Antarctica just out of the blue! (but it was very interesting)
- Mom and Dad have discovered the Lowe's, who are apparently some sort of friends who moved away and they never saw each other for like 10 years, and they have moved close by.
- The Lowe's are very interesting, and very cool, and we keep going to each others houses. They have 2 boys (Aidan [11], Nevin [9]), and a baby girl named--oh dear, umm, I guess I forgot her name.
- Dad introduced us (kids) to Risk, and Lily conquered the world the first time (at least I was the second-to-last person "standing"). Dad installed a computerized Risk game, and Thomas has found it much easier to conquer the world in this manner.
Okay, there is my life. Please comment, and if you want, give me a topic to write a poem.

It's not a shame
To write a poem
Than in the main
Helps children work
And not complain.
Nice job on the poems Tyra. I very much enjoy your ideas and expressions.
One of my friends illustrated and wrote a family children's book about some family stories about great-grandparents. You show some real talent in your sketching, as well as your writing. Perhaps you would enjoy doing some stories that all the cousins could read. I will send you some ideas if you are interested.
Oooo, good ones. I like the idea of the flowers singing heavenly praises. Sometimes just seeing flowers makes me feel like singing heavenly praises. Which sounds dumb, but is true.
Awesome that you have a new family of friends! And I hope you enjoy Risk. I don't think I ever learned how to play that one. Or maybe I'm thinking of Stratego? Anyway, I learned the easier one of the two, but not the harder one.
Tyra I am so amazed with your poems. You are a very bright and talented young lady!
